Post

I'm looking to get a new car later on this year, Septemberish or so. And i am considering the following cars"

04 Audi s4; Mostly because of the quattro and the 4.2 v8 with 340hp

06-07 Acura TL; More reliable than the Audi, cheaper to fix, and cheaper in price

And finally the g35x. So far my top pick is the G35x.

I originally planned on paying everything in cash, thats where the TL comes in, and since i have no credit to my name i would need a parent to cosign. I never used credit cards or anything of the sort because i wanted to steer clear from debt till i had a decent income to manage it while in school. Since my parents agreed to cosign i have my heart set on the 07 with all the options.

Is the infiniti awd system rwd under normal conditions, then awd when the tires slip? Or is it pushbutton?

Also what would be any con's to this car since i can't find any yet online? Also does it come with an auto starter? Living in MA i start my car in the morning from bed so when i head out to school or work its nice and warm.

And finally what are you guys paying for your 07's specifically the "X". And let me know where, State, and if in New England which dealer?

Thanks in Advance, and to be honest I've been around many forums and for a forum with not many pages it is packed with info!

I would also like to know this, I was told under 20mph it's AWD and over it disengages AWD, this was coming from a sales rep at the Infiniti I DIDN'T buy at, so I didn't follow up on it.

Cons that I can think of:The heating for the passenger/driver seats are buggered, I'm pretty sure the grand majority of 07 owners have this issue (there's a thread about this somewhere in here), including me. I talked to my local infiniti and they were not aware of the issue at all, but the issue is there, maybe by the time you get yours it will be a long gone issue.

Paid 39 for mine, this is with every option except the technology package (X$%#@ told me there was no package missing, my fault for not inspecting it more throughly)

So there is no button to disengage the awd completely? I bet someone will make a relay to do this at one point if you can't already.

I'd really like the rwd feel and fun of it, but when in rain or snow, [and not when doing donuts] throw on the awd and be all set.

And what satae did you buy your G in?

Nope none at all as far as I know, the closest would be to turn VDC off, I got mines in NYS / Long Island, great dealership+people there. Also the car has key less entry/starter but not a remote starter. They told me if I considered a remote starter it would have to be done "carefully" because of keyless engine startup feature.

The car starts off with AWD up to 30 mph. After which all the power is transferred to rwd. The system the constantly monitors and if it detects slippage, it will then transfer 50% of the power to the front.

The reason why you want AWD at the start is so that you can actually accelerate instead of burning out when those 306 ponies hit the road.

I'm looking at either the G35x or an IS350 myself ..... took a G35x out Saturday, pretty sweet I must say, even in snow. I'm in Canada so price comparisons won’t work too well for us and many forum members seem reluctant to actually talk numbers (probably because some dolt will always say they could of got it $5K cheaper).

In any case the Infinity sales guy admitted he was ok getting $2,000 cdn over invoice (~$1700us) , I am holding out for more…. I also have a 2001 IS300 to trade so that complicates matters. Its important to know the value of your trade because they like to ‘ream you’ on that as well.

I was thinking about the autostarter thing, and they way its usually installed with cars that have the computer that recognizes the key is they have to leave one permenantly in the car. And with the pushbutton anyone could just step in and start it at anytime.

The only thing i could think of was to use an aftermarket starter that could somehow bypass the computer, but i wouldn't know how to do that without disabling it completely.[well i don't know how to disable it completely but im ust saying...]

But as for my trade i'll be happy getting 3.5-4 grand out of it.

I actually read somewhere on here that someone payed $38,XXX fully loaded, but i couldn't find the post again.

wow the sales guy in Alberta told me that they have been selling them for $100-1500 off MSRP.

Which dealership did you talk too?

Iam dealing with both dealers here in Ottawa and one of the two Lexus dealers as well (IS350) .... i don't want to name names yet as negotiations are ongoing. I am having a hard time choosing between the two cars ….. the IS350 is nicer but Lexus Canada has jacked up the Canadian List price 45% over its US list price. The G35 actually is higher rated in many magazines and after taking a G35x out I understand why.

If I were in Edmonton and wanted a Lexus/Infinity, i'd also try Calgary. If the dealer there knows that you’re that far away, if he won’t discount he loses the sale….. any sale is better than no sale.

The IS350 is RWD and I wasn't a big fan of the interior. Its too plain although the resale value is better. Just wondering what is the Invoice of a G35x?
