I own a '07 G35X with all factory options. Several months ago I noticed that the audio system would cut out from time to time when the car was first started then would evenutally work as normal when the car was fully warmed up. Over the next few months the issue got to the point where the system would turn on only after driving it for over an hour and would still cut in & out. The glitch affected the voice/nav & audio systems. I brought the car into my dealer and they said the whole audio/voice/nav system needed to be replaced. It took a month and a half for the part to come in. Calling Infiniti customer relations for help did no good. They offered me nothing for the inconveinance. I bought the car back once the part came in and they had it installed in several hours and I was on my way. The new system worked while I was on my way home and when I started the car up the system did not come on again. Needless to say I was pretty upset. I bought the car back the next day and after a few hours service calls and tells me the new unit was bad too and just to hang on to the loaner car they gave me to drive. I asked them about how long and they said eight weeks. Of course the loaner car does not have nav or the upgraded sound system. As a matter of fact the car they gave me to drive for two months has severe hail damage. I looks like a car with bad acne. This whole experience has been pretty bad and I am sour on Infiniti right now. The only bright light has been the dealership, but I think they should have given me a nicer carAnyone out there with a similar audio problem?

Welcome to NICO.

I'm sorry you're having such a poor experience.

I think the two failures are really unacceptable, but part of the issue is that Infiniti keeps going to Clarion to build their Bose head units and they build crap.

It sucks that you don't have your car, but it isn't like it's non-functional so technically you can still drive it while they wait for the part. Is this an inconvenience? Yes. On the flip side you could own one of those cars where the dealership only provides you with a ride (no actually vehicle to drive).

You might ask them to check for any electrical issues that could cause both head units to fail. You should also look into lemon laws for your state. And finally, please realize that your scenario is pretty isolated. We only have had a couple of individuals with major issues with their Infinitis. Most of them are very reliable, fun to drive, and trouble free.

Welcome!

I have to agree with SentientByDesign, the audio issue is infuriating and I can understand what you are going through. There are many (almost all) systems that run through the audio unit. If any one of the initial signals is not being received or transmitted this may cause a brief failure or the DCU to pause, or freeze, I think it is something related to the contraction that occurs commonly in MN.

I hope this experience doesn't totally sour on the Infiniti brand, these electrical problems can stump the top techs for days, and parts shipping and availability are delayed sometimes. I am glad to hear that your dealer is treating you well, maybe calling the manager and telling him how much you hate the car your in, they may be willing to swap you into another one. Especially since you will be in it for a while.

Good Luck, keep us posted

This is my fifth Nissan can and my first Infiniti. I lease all my cars and I don't think I will go back into a Nissan product again based on how I was treated by thier customer relations department. They were totally unwilling to do anything. I am not faulting the dealership they seem to be genuinely concerned and are working to get my issue resolved. They are aware the lemon law clock is ticking. I thinnk that is why they gave me a loaner to use.

Everyone gets a loaner at Infiniti when they need to keep your car for a period of time.

Driving the car with no voice, nav, audio is totaly inconveinant. I drove it like that for over a month while I was waiting for the replacement unit to arrive. It sounds like Infiniti has the problem narrowed down to a specific lot of radios & VIN numbers they were installed in. Funny thing is that the replacment unit that went bad wasn't from the problem bunch that was ID'd. Other than this deal I love the car.

Sorry Kirkster,

I'm trying to empathize, but a few frill features being temporarily disabled on my car wouldn't bother me that much.

I guess it's because I love technology, but don't naturally use it as intended.

Good luck with your situation.

Not being able to listen to a radio while on a 50 minute commute each way is a bummer.

I'm with you Kirkster

I'd ***** and moan if I couldn't listen to the radio for a 50 min commute each way on a regular basis. Esp. if I paid for the upgrade.

On that note, I'd also have upgraded my stereo myself.

I'm very surprised that a brand new part would also be defective the exact same way on a new car. I would think that there is something else causing this problem.
