It's really up to you...take it to a place you trust, or do it yourself to save some cash.

It is really really easy to do yourself. Buy 5 quarts Mobil 1 (walmart $21) buy a Fram or Napa gold filter $5.

With the motor on the hot side of warm, set the ebrake

Jack up the driverside front so the oil is all on the drain plug side. A great jack point is the place where the chassis bolts to the sub frame. There is a huge 25-28mm bolt there.

Drain it into a container, once it stops dripping remove the oil filter.

Lube the o ring on the new oil filter screw it on tight. Put the drain plug back in.

Fill it with 5 and 1/8 quarts Mobil 1. Recycle the oil and filter at Walmart or any auto parts store.

Should take you about 20 min once your remove the retarted plastic cover from the bottom of the motor. I put that plastic cover in my attic. I'll reinstall it when I sell the car.

Otherwise anywhere can change the oil. Make sure you check it before you drive away. Many motors have been ruined by those oil change shops not refilling them once they drain the old oil.

I would strongly recommend the Nissan/Infiniti OEM filter. The price is not that much different from other brands, and you are using what the manufacturer would want to see in the highly unlikely event that you have to have a warranty problem taken care of on the engine.

Never use the Jiffy Lube type of places - they do sloppy work in general. Go to a competent tech (many local garage shops will do fine!), or do it yourself, or go to the dealer (costliest, of course).

My approach (on the 3750 mile points between dealer work) is to get 6 quarts of Mobil 1 0W-40 full synthetic, a filter and crush washer from http://www.everythinginfiniti.com (I buy them in six packs) and then go to a local Goodyear or Precision Tune place (they let me supervise the work) to get it done.

BTW, even at this kind of garage, I have had the person changing the oil ask me what the crush washer was for! Needless to say, I asked immediately for somebody else to finish the work - the owner and the replacement tech totally understood why! Imagine what happens at the Jiffy Lube place, where you cannot see what is going on under your car.

I would do it yourself - follow Jeff's directions above.I would also strongly suggest using a Nissan filter - ask for one made in JAPAN. Ask the Nissan dealer if they will give you a price break if you buy more than one. They have a tall & short & I've noticed the short one has several different part numbers.

I may buy a 6 pack of filters from everythingG35 myself. I have been using Fram xtra guards for the past 12 years without any problem ever.

Welcome to NICO

See link as there have been many posts on this topic

Do not use the jack that came with the vehicle.

If you've never done this before you will need to obtain the proper tools

A 3 ton hydraulic jack, jack stands, and ramps. (Sears usually has sales on these items)

1/4' and 1/2' drive mm sockets

Oil filter cap wrench Take a Nissan Factory filter into Pep Boys to obtain the correct size

The wife was about to throw out an old shower curtain which I found makes a fine cover for my concrete driveway while changing oil as any minor spills are easy to wipe up.

Pep Boys also has the container and funnel you will see in my photo's in the link above.

Have fun, do it safely and before the weather gets cold
