I am considering replacing my speakers with aftermarket Infiniti speakers in my 07 Maxima SE with the Bose system. However, I have heard rumors that no aftermarket speakers will work with this current Bose headunit/ amp combination due to impedence differences.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me? If I want to replace my speakers with out going through the costly process of replacing the amp, what is my best route? Is it possible? What would be the down sides?

You would need to replace the mids with 2ohm speakers. The tweeters are probably 4ohm so those should be a direct swap.

Thanks for the info. I am totally a new-be when it comes to this stuff, so I would appreciate a little more clarification. I think my research agrees with you in that the Bose amp is a 2 ohm setup. I am considering the Infinity Kappa series and I have noticed that they are rated at 2 ohm for the component as well as the integrated speaker models. So would these speakers be a good "direct swap" choice?

What would be the dissadvantages of going with a 4 ohm speaker?- If my understanding is correct, this would lead to very low volume levels, right?

Hey,

Best place to go for any car stereo/speaker/etc... is Crutchfield. They are the pro's at this stuff. When you order from them, they can tell you what can and cannot fit using oem or aftermarket stuff. They will also send you step by step diagrams specifically with your cars picture on it to help ease installation. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! TRUST ME!!

No highs No Lows MUST BE BOSE!!!! Good job on swapping them! Now to do it right. Bose builds their amps and heatsinks onto their speakers anymore. It creates a mess that no one wants to really deal with. Bose likes it this way. When it comes to ohms that can all easily be adjusted. First thing you need to do is find some speakers you like as well as a decent clean 4ch amp. Personally I would recommend Focal or Dynaudio. If you are looking to save money and get good quality MB Quart Q series makes a sexy sound as well as Memphis' high end. Trust me when I say it is much less time consuming and stress saving to add an aftermarket amp run the wires from the amp to your new speakers and then hook into your HU. I have been doing this for 10 years 5 of which have been internationally IASCA comps. The company I work for has been world champions in car audio 5 times over and it doesn't matter how much I know or how long we been doing this. Bose still sucks and I will always learn something new everyday.

Good Luck Brother,Jesse

Yeah except when you ask about the 6th gen (which doesn't get modded as often as other cars, ecpecially an 07) and they have no idea and say nothing fits....

Go with what Levissan said, I replaced all mine with Boston Acoustics and JL power...
