Hi guys newbie here- I'm going through a painful ordeal with having been advised to remove and clean the throttle body on my '07 Altima Hybrid..got after getting that dreaded error code 0507. I thought I was playing it safe by disconnecting battery terminal and the electrical wirings around the TB, and this unit was indeed dirty..what I didn't know was "touching" the freakin butterfly in any way shap or form, will cause you to screw up your idle/air balance and thereby throwing your idle WAY OFF. I ended up getting a very high idle and took it to Nissan to get the "idle re-learn" done. Long story short, it even failed the re-learn. Service guy claims that while I was cleaning it, I must have removed the special film surrounding the butterfly, and therefore rendered this unit, useless. I told him I used throttle body cleaner to clean around a dirty butterfly area...all he said was I need replaced.

Can someone please advice if I REALLY need to replace, and if so, I checked ebay and there are plenty out there, is the HITACHI brand OK? If not what is the prefereed after market brand ? Nissan wanted to charge me $1,200 for parts and labour to replace TB...I said "no thanks" and left.

Any heads up is cheerfully accepted

thanks

Special film on a throttle body? That sounds like BS. From looking at your posts on other forums sounds like you got it fixed. You should copy a writeup of what fixed it over here.
