My 07 Altima 2.5sl makes a very loud "grinding" noise on a cold start. Almost like when you turn the key for too long (if there was a key used). It has gotten progressively worse over time. I have only had the car for 6 months and it started about a month after I got it. I took it to the dealer to have it checked and was told that it is the lifters and this is a normal sound. I have a hard time believing that this could be normal as it is sounds like it is doing some serious damage. Does anyone else experience this problem with their 07's? It's quite discouraging that this noise is coming from a brand new car.

Send the concern directly to Nissan USA....I had trouble with my dealership when it was cold and the clutch pedal stayed on the floor....The infamous could not duplicate.....

Yeah, take it back to the dealer. Sounds like the starter is not fully engaging.

My altima does the same thing an I've had it for only three weeks. Please let me know what they do at the dealership or if you get this fixed.

Have you taken yours to have it checked yet? Just curious what they would tell you.
