hey everyone, I'm new here. I drive a 2007 altima 2.5s 6MT and I'm doing a clutch install. so far i have disassembled the brakes, suspension, removed the axles and the starter. It looks like a need to drop the sub frame next and then I can pull the transmission. the chilton manual says to remove the engine and transmission together and then separate them but i really would rather not do it like that. has any one on here done this job that could give me some advice? any help would be appreciated.

First of all :welcome: to NICO!

It would probably be helpful to read the factory service manual and see if Nissan has a different method for replacing the clutch. You can view and download it at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Altima

Good luck!

I know on my Maxima (I think it's the same transmission with a different bell housing) I had to pull the cross member and was then able to drop the transmission seperately. It was not fun by any means and really was a two person job. Check out the manual and it should give you a pretty good sense of what has to be done.

Thanks Heath,
The service manual will be very helpful but it also recommends to remove the engine and transmission together first. I'm going to try removing the transmission by itself. It looks like there is enough room if I can angle the engine a little.

I got the sub frame out but it wasn't easy, I can't believe how hard they make it to do a clutch job. I would normally do this at school where I have all the equipment I need to do this quick but I'm on break and I can't wait until January 10th to drive. Everything is twice as hard in my carport without a lift and air tools. Anyway I'm going to be working on a DIY for the site and I will continue to update my progress .
