Im looking at one of these and I really really like the car. I think Nissan did an awesome job with the new Sentra's. As you can see Im in Canada but I would actually be purchasing the vehicle from Texas. Its a local certified used nissan vehicle. It has the Rockford package as well as the moonroof.

Im just curious if anybody has any tips on what to look for as far as problems with the vehicle. It has 19k miles on it. Is the 2.0 engine just the SR20DE re-done or is it the exact same?

As you can see I drive an 02 Altima 2.5SL and 00 Infiniti I30 so Im a proud Nissan owner and I want another one

Thanks!

It's an MR20DE, not at all related to the SR.

The only known issues are an engine mount and steering rack issues, both of which are fixed under warranty and are not catastrophic. The new Sentra is looking to be a good car, go for it!

Squeeks are the worse issues I think. I have 3 and the car's go 6700 km on it only. Except for the one coming from the back seat after they removed it to work on the fuel sensor the other two are occasional. The one from the radio stack comes when the car's been allowed to cold soak and the heater warms the car. Keep the car cold or in a warm garage and it doesn't happens. The one from the steering wheel, not the problem with the column, comes when the car's been cold soaked and goes away when warmed.

Otherwise there's also the steering column noise which comes about when turning the steering to the left quickly while moving at slow speed. Sort of like what you might do when pulling out of a parking sport. That requires the steering column to be changed.

That's about it I think.

I would love to get the SE-R however I really really want bluetooth and I was surprised to see its not even an option the SE-R's. Im not planning on doing any mods to this car except for tint and maybe some HID's but thats about it. Its more of a daily driver, my Altima is where I will be doing most of my mods.

Oh and thanks to everybody on the tips for noises, etc. I hear the motor mounts are liquid filled, is that right?

I forgot to add, anybody know of any recalls?

2nd gear for the manual.

The bluetooth.. for me that wasn't really as useful as a 2.5 liter engine since you can get a very good bluetooth headset like the jawbone. I have thought about it and if I were to answer the phone I don't necessarily want my passengers to hear the conversation.

I love the SE-R's for sure, but the SL just fits the best for what I need.

Quick question, does anybody know if the Sentra's have passive restraints? If it does looks like I can't bring the car up.

US-market non-SE-Rs are legal in Canada.

Huh since they stll sell the SE R 08 here and they didn't list the 07s as being a problem you wonder what they did for the 08s in the US? Plus they are still avaliable here so are the bumpers different?

Yeah, I was just making sure the Sentra didn't apply to the note:

Vehicles equipped with passive restraints do not meet CMVSS 210, seat belt anchorage location requirements. Passive restraints are identified as either a motorized upper torso restraint or door mounted 3-point restraint.

Its weird how the Altima 4 door can't come up either, they don't say anything about the coupe.

Thanks!
