I havent seen the black scuff on the bar yet, but I'll keep an eye on it. Could it be anything else?Showcase wrote:yea i have the same strut bar for my o7 sentra. mine rattles too. I think its the black "hook lookin thingy" on the intake tube that is attached to the throttle body hittin the brace. I noticed a lill black scuff right were the "thingy" is located at the strut bar.
I'll try to do what is suggested later tonight, after work I'll keep you posted. Also, after installing the bar, i noted that when I drive, I hear my tire tread noise/friction against the asfalt a bit more. Could this have to do with a more rigid front chasis?nametakennow wrote:Since it's RPM related, it has to be something that's very close to the bar such that when it oscillates enough (as with a higher rpm - more vibration) it's hitting the bar at a high enough speed to be audible.
So, run your hand along the bar and feel for anything nearby. If you can tie the object off somewhere or something, do it. Otherwise I guess you have to hope it goes away.
Roll your eyes all you want. We get a lot of people here who are complete novices to cars, and, therein, don't do seemingly obvious little checks like I suggested.DarkAquarius wrote:

After a third go around, I found that this is where the sound originates. I put a small round rubber with 3M adhesive to both the bar and the 'black thingy' and the noise was reduced significantly.
