I'm looking to buy and cant decide if I'd really be missing out on much by going back a year. I like the new design but also like the older one.

I drove an 07 G35x here in town and would have dealt on it but it looked like it went through a rock storm and they sure thought I would be paying for the $1000 worth of new paint and grille. I'll admit I havent gotten my hands on an 06 to drive yet (G35x cars in general are tough to find and expensive in CO right now?) but anticipated it being not much different. So I guess my real question is...what would I really be missing by going back to 06 to stick closer to my budget and not blow the bank on this first purchase?

Thanks!

First of all, I wouldn't buy a new damaged car. Not even if they repainted it. It's going to loose value immediately.I have two 05's(non-x) and love them both. I vote for the 06 cause you're going to save thousands which you can bank or use for mods. IMO, the 07 is heading more toward the luxury end of the sporty-luxury scale. Nothing wrong with that, but I like to feel of my 05 better. Plus, the 07 throttle feels a bit foreign (which I hear can be fixed). Can't go wrong with either.Good luck!

Welcome to NICO!!

I am with SVT don't buy a damaged car.

Before you make your decesion make sure you drive both. I don't know your situation but if the money is a big factor in your decision go for the 06. If you can afford the couple of K extra go for the 07 of course if you like it after the testdrive.

Either way both of them reliable and gorgeous car.

let us know how you decide.

Yeah-that's why I told them to get over themselves and I'm not paying nearly full price for a car that needs $1000 in work that they wanted me to pay for.

The money thing is questionable. If I could find one locally I would have a trade to use towards an 07 and make it affordable. Problem is there is one G35x in the state right now (the damaged one)! So I'm looking nationwide and probably going to end up shipping one to me, which will likely mean getting an 06.

Just wanted to know if I was missing something huge between 06 and 07 models. Thanks!

'07 has the HR motor, new body style and new interior. Both the '06 and '07 will be similarly prone to rock chips so I would suggest looking into a clear-bra when you get yours.

The 07 is an entirely new car. In the 07 they addressed all of the issues that people had with the previous model. If I could afford it, I'd go with the 07 for sure.

It isn't how prone to rock chips they are...the issue with the 07 in town that I drove looked like it had gone through a rock storm. On top of it they asked for $1000 to fix THEIR car so it'd look like new for me. It was also higher mileage for an 07 (25k) and would've ended up costing in the neighborhood of $33k so I walked. When I walked they came down some but if I'm spending the money I wasn't going to spend it on a car that was "close to new" after $1000 in fixes. I can find better deals on cars or edmunds.com!

I really just wanted to know if I'd be disappointed if I went back a year to 06 to not blow the bank but it sounds like either is a good choice but go 07 if I can find one in budget.

If you are happy with the look of the 06 than go for it. It did change a lot but after all it is you who's going to drive it. If you are happy with the 06 go for it. I just love the interior of the 07+ and the power it comes with still thrill me every time I hit it.

to me cause i looked at both 06-07 and hands down the 07 is a better car but if your lookin to save some money then get a left over 06 but as far as style&power 07 all the way
