I just bought a 2006 nissan Maxima got it really cheap knowing it had some issues. I pulled 3 codes of the car p0745, p0507 and p0795. The car starts and runs fine but sitting still and shifting from Park to Reverse or Park to drive it shifts hard and makes a thunk noise, it has no power taking off but once it gets going it is fine. I do notice a little shaking around 55mph then goes away at a faster or lower speed. also brakes are really sensitive and if I apply a lot of pressure to the brak car shakes a good bit. I know I am asking alot but any info could help about what the problems could be and the best place to start? Thanks guys!

The brake/shaking issue sounds like bad brakes or tires out of rotation/balance.

For the codes look them up in the FSM and start trouble shooting. There are pretty good instructions.

Could be warped brake rotors
Might need to "turn" them on the lathe

Maybe idle is too high and when you shift it makes the thunk noise

the p0507 is for the idle air control(i a c) isnt working as it should. possible causes are:
The car has a vacuum leak,
Carbon buildup in the Throttle Body air passages
Defective Coolant Temperature Sensor
Defective Charging System/Alternator
Defective Power Steering Pressure Switch
The iac unit isnt working properly.

now the other two are for the trans. p0745 is for the pressure control solenoid malfunction.
check your transmission fluid if it is low and or dirty.
p0795 is for the pressure control solenoid valve "c". it could have to do with the transmission fluid as well. but if you do a transmission flush and service, this might help it. if it does not, a blockage inside the lines or the transmission its self, or the transmission is going bad.
