06 m45 xm radio

hi i just bought a 06 m45 with sport package,i was told it has the xm radio but for the life of me i cant figure out how to change the radio to get to it.I have the shark fin antenna.In the center console it has a long cord with a ipod connection and when i press the radio button on the dash it will go to ipod but not xm radio.Does the ipod connection have something to do with me not being able to select the xm radio option? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

Not sure your steering wheel has the same buttons as my 07, but ... I just push the 'source' button on my steering wheel to switch betewen AM - FM - XM. If you get XM channel 1, and hear the adverts, your unit is working, but is not activated - you have to call XM to get it activated. Ask them for a 90 day trial and and you will likely get it.
Seems to me that when you add the I-pod cable, the XM unit in the trunk is by-passed or disconnected altogether - someone with the Ipod switch could chime in and confirm please?

im guessing the ipod connector has something to do with it not working...I finally figured out that pressing the radio button on the dash it goes to xm radio after i turn the tune knob 3 times..but nothing happens so if anyone has an ipod connector i would like to know if both can be used.I dont have an iphone or ipod so id rather have the xm radio? thanks
