so my 06 m45 acts weird i just want to know if this happens to any one else, when ever i start the car the seat and steering wheel are suppose to go back to the memorize position that i saved, but for some reason its hit or miss, while the car starts it will start moving into place and just stop half way or it might just barely go into my settings, and then some times it just will go to my settings but its never consistent. does this happen to any one else? the dealer told me its normal

Now when you say "car starts". Do you mean started and sitting in park or have you shifted to drive/reverse already? Once you take the car out of park, the seats will not move. How close is the other keyfob if it has different settings?

My wife will often leave hers in the car (when its in the garage). If I get in with my keyfob, it won't move to my settings, I have press my preset # button.

The best way to truly test is move the seat out of your preset position. Make sure the other keyfob is out of range. Get out & lock the doors. Wait about 5-10 mins...then unlock the door with the door button and NOT the keyfob. If the seats don't move all the way to correct position...then yes you have a problem.

ill try that, i always use the door button to lock and unlock the car with the key fob in my pocket.. im pretty sure every one else car is like mine. you put you're foot on the brake, hit the button and as the car is starting up the seat and steering wheel moves into position.. yes i leave it in park and wait for the car to completely start before i put it in gear. while its starting and everything is moving into position it stops half way and i have to hit the button preset #1 or #2 i have them both set the same and even some times i have to push it like 2 or 3 times and hold it until it fully goes to the saved position

I dont have this issueThe seat always returns to the memorized position; but I also have mine set so that when I unlock the doors it starts to adjust to the driver 1 or 2 profile; You do also have to link your key fob to a memory location; you cannot set the position, and the link to the fob 1 or 2 in one step; this is a 2 step procedure, the manual covers this off well;

Sometimes if the door is unlocked and I get it it will adjust the position while it starts; but pause about half way in the ignition cycle. I believe this is because the power is turned off to all parts of the car, minus the starter portion (ie, radio etc loose power for a 1/2 sec)

If your not switching into drive during this process, and have the fob associated corrected to the memory positions; there is no reason why they should stop at some location other than the memory position; If your dealer is telling you this is normal; they likely do not understand what is going on; I guess the question I would ask them is why in the world do you need memory seats if they do not return to the programed position?

check all the basics, like what I have noted above, see the sales guys - they likely know better how to program the fob/seats than the service guys do anyway - also; get them to pull the demo car around and show you the same thing happing on that car.... its not normal function, your job will be to prove that to them in order for them to look into it;

ok thanks ill check out the manual, i do have it set up so when i shut the car off and exit the car the seat and steering wheel moves and when i start the car it goes into memories position 1 or 2, but here is why i think there is a problem for sure, so i was told also by the service writer that when the car starts all the power goes to start the engine thats why it stop... but if i don't put my foot on the brake to start the car and hit the start button twice putting the ignition into the run position the seat and steering wheel does the same thing stopping half way or so. now theres no power being used to start the engine so the system should have full power to move the seat and wheel into position. maybe im wrong what do you think?

Honestly i have the same problem with my seats. I just got a 2006 M45 sport and for some reason, randomly my seat does not automatically shift back to the memorized position and I have to press the memory seat button. I was trying to figure this out but can't figure out anything.

Anyone else having this problem or have a solution?
