For the best sound you need to listen to DVD-A discs. The concert DVD's will play and are in 5.1 surround, but they are usually mixed with the music in the front channels and the crowd & ambient sounds in the rear. DVD-A discs are studio recordings mixed in 5.1 surround with instruments & vocals in the rear. The player will also play CD's mixed in 5.1 surround which are listed as DTS 5.1 Music Disc's. I don't believe thet SACD or Super Audio CD's will play in the player. I haven't tried one yet so I can't be sure. It's hard to find DVD-A or 5.1 DTS CD's in the retail music stores. Your best bet is on line. I have bought several DVD-A discs on ebay and Amazon.com. The number of titles that are available is limited and most are out of print, so be prepared to pay $25 & up. Hotel California, if you can find it, goes for $75 or more. I have bought several disc's in the 4 months I've had my M-35, and my favorite by far is Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The sound is absolutely amazing.
