my wife got into small accident... resulting damages to bumper, fender on the driver side. I took it to body shop to get an estimate that's when i noticed headlight's mounting tab was snapped into two. i guess during the impact, it got pushed in or something. Anyway, mechanic told me it's about $1.2k to replace the housing.... and about $1.5k for fender (replace) & bumper (repair). I checked e-bay and found few OEM headlights ranging $300~$500... also i noticed some of them had their tabs repaired. so i'm assuming i can get it repaired...rather then replace. here's my question for people who have done this beforecan i do this myself? or should i take it to mechanic? or some metal shop to get it welded? thanks in advance

Are you paying out pocket or will you let your insurance get it? I would have it fix at a reputable body shop. Remember the won't be able to really tell how much damage there is till they take that front bumper down.
