I recently purchased a (Certified) 06 M35X w/ 25K miles. The current Certified Pre-Owned warranty runs through 07/2012 or 100K and covers the car just like the new car warranty. It's doubtful I will put 85K on the car by 2012 and I have the option of extending the warranty for one more year for $1000.

Looking for opinions from some other owners, are you seeing any service issues yet?

Is the $1000 worth it, assuming I will keep the car that long?

OK, I see there is a similar post from 1/10. Not trying to duplicate.

My option is for a "wrap" and includes a no deductible, transferrable upgrade from the standard CPO warranty. Based on what I see in the other post, it looks like I should purchase the extra year.

Thanks

Yes, having the extra time (if you plan to keep the car till that point, of course) will be worth it.

Wear and tear [non warranty items] usually run $1000-$1500 per year prorated [tires, brakes, rubber items , belts, batteries, liquid changes and filters.

I usually warn people to save another $400 per year since brand new for transmission replacement

Obviously if you drive less than 15,000 miles per year you must adjust annual prorated costs.

Electronics usually fail before engines and most of them will be under $2,000 per system.

One thousand per year is cheap insurance to cover what could be $10,000 of potential repairs at worst case.
