Quick intro - first post==================================First off, let me take a quick sec and introduce myself. I finally registered with the site after browsing for the last few weeks. I purchased an '06 M35x a few weeks ago, and absolutely love it. Back in the day I used to drive a G20, so I'm a long time Infiniti fan. Also a big NICO fan (Always owned Nissans/Infinitis). Thanks for the great site and community engagement.

Question===================================Unfortunately I got caught up at the dealership and fell in love with the car - particularly fond of the orange leather. It wasn't until I got home and started looking for info on my new ride that I noticed my car didn't come with the tech package (I knew nav wasn't included).

I have searched the site and haven't found much in the way of adding the nav/dvd/sat/aux to a car that didn't come with the package originally.

Any thoughts on where I can get some info/advice about this option? I know this means a fair amount of part replacement (console for buttons?, dvd player, nav system, aux connections, etc), but think it may just be worth it.

Also, based on the posts I've read, it sounds like SAT is pre-wired in the M35. Is this on a per package basis or are all 06 M35s pre-wired for a SAT radio module?

Thanks so much.

There should be few XM channels there, tune to channel 1 or 0 u will find the Radio ID there (its a number), that you can register at sirius to get SAT radio. If you do not see the ID at channel 1 or 0 (that is highly unlikely) then it is not prewired.

Thanks for the reply. The car didn't come with a SAT radio module, but I'm wondering if the car is pre-wired such that I can purchase a OEM XM module and just hook it up without having to wire it up from scratch.

As long as you have the Journey Package, you can add nav easily. I did it in my M45. You need to swap the screen, buttons, and control module (the box in the glove compartment). You also need a gps antenna. Any will do, so long as it has an HRS GT5-1S connector. Kenwood, Alpine, and Pioneer use this type. Check eBay or the junk yard for the parts.

CSULL:

I've attached the sat radio info from infinitypartsusa.com. The M35/45 is completely modular. Each car is pre-wired for everything with the exception of the models with the read dvd. If you have a sun roof i don't think you can have the rear flip down DVD. please someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks for the info. The XM module certainly looks promising - I'll have to order that and will include a write up on the install process. Thanks, maqueswell.

dholmgren, happy to find someone who's already been through this process. Was it worth it? If you don't mind me asking, can you tell me how much this type of project costs (pm is fine)? I'd really appreciate any info before commiting to the swap. I took a look at one retailer, and it looks like there are a number of parts to replace ( http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=0 ). It also looks like this is a $5k+ project.

Thanks again.

My friend and I have been trying to figure out what to get each other for Christmas. We went shopping this weekend but didn't have much luck. Here we are on Christmas Eve talking and I happened to mention the XM module. We added Trade Motion to the call and they were exceptionally helpful. He purchased it for me on the spot. Thanks, TJ!

I'll put a write-up together on the install process (with pics) and post it to the forums. Thanks again for the advice. maqueswell, I mentioned the forums on the phone - they were great!

Check eBay or the junkyard. The project was well worth it. Aftermarket nav is much cheaper. However, I really like the integration. I got the switch assembly for $100. I got the screen, a wiring harness for the car, and the control unit for $1,100 of eBay. There was a problem with the firmware in the control unit (it crashes when calculating routes), so I got a found a replacement a few weeks later for $200.00 on eBay. The antenna was $30 from a local audio shop. Any universal with an HRS connector will work. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the defective control unit. The disc was in the control unit when I bought it. You can find 7.4 discs pretty cheap on eBay.
