hey guys,

i took my car in to get some lowering springs installed. When i came home i parked my car on the driveway. It sat there for about half hour and then when i was leaving i saw a huge leak right under the front passenger side axle. What do you think could be leaking? Is it the differential fluid? I dabbed my hand by the CV joint and they was no leak there. However, right above it there is an inverted U-shaped metal piece and there was a leak there. (sorry i dont know much about car components..)

I am really paranoid now. I hope this doesn't turn into an ordeal. Say if the shop did not install the springs on that one side properly, what fluids could possibly leak? Do you guys think its just a seal? I am paranoid to take it back to the same shop coz i dont want them to mess it up even further. I know infiniti will void the warranty if I take it to them. Do you guys think I should just take it to Infiniti and get them to diagnose the problem? Where does the front diff. fluid go?

Have any of you guys with lowering springs taken your vehicle to infiniti and have they voided your warranty? Also, do springs play any role in the power train warranty at all?

First, double check that it isn't a shock that's leaking.... It is more difficult and riskier to lower an "x" than a standard RWD vehicle. If at any point in the process they allowed excessive lateral torque on any of the dirve components it could have damanged a seal somewhere. If the lowering did damage any drive components, then it will be on your dime to repair unless you can get the shop who did the work to assume responsibility for it.

Thanks for your post Nightwatch. I got a mechanic to come over to my house today and he said checked it out and said that it was the strut that was leaking. I will try and find the strut and get it replaced asap.

I am going to get the shop to cough up the money for the strut. If they wont do it hopefully the dealership doesn't charge too much for a strut.
