So I'm new to the M world former G owner. So I'm having an issue with my radio in my 06 M35X. I just bought it used and noticed after a day the radio signal was not very good (a lot of static). Then it would just drop in and out, but shows on the dash screen that signal was good just no sound. You can hear the beeps when scrolling around through the menu. I scratching my head on this, I even went into the trunk to check the onboard Bose amp disconnected all 3 clips and reconnected. Would hear a bunch of feed back noise but that's it. I would normally hear static while driving, now its completely silent.

How often do the Amps in this model have issues or do I have a different issue going on here? Suggestions or assistance would be appreciated.

I wouldn't say it's a common issue but I'd definitely consider having the amp tested by a stereo shop or something.

So I was able to acquire another AMP and was able to test it to see if that was the issue. After what I was able to find on the internet that's what it pointed to. Well my luck it didn't fix the issue. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated before I end up spending a grip of money taking her to the Dealership.

Curious would switching out the radio mess with the Satellite radio subscription?

OP, when you say that the radio is cutting in and out, are you saying the power to the radio is cutting in and out or only the sound? I would at least remove the audio control unit shown in the ebay links above, and see if your connections on the back are secure. There is a video on YouTube showing how to remove it.

Its just the audio that cuts in and out. Sometimes with static and sometimes just dead air.

Ok, so I pulled out the radio and found why the audio drops. Looks like I have to replace the radio unit. I have a lifetime subscription to XM radio, would I have to update to the new radio unit with XM info or no?

Far as I am aware, the XM tuner is inside the trunk and not actually part of the radio. When you have troubles, XM asks for the tuner ID#, not the radio.

Do not replace radio i have gone thru this with my 2008 m45x. i have replaced amp ,radio and front audio facia . I still have no sound after close to 1000 dollars in parts alone. I will be going to a Independent installer soon as Infiniti has no clue only want warranty work just parts exchangers not trouble shooters. I have the high end entertainment package with dvd with rear controls and reclining back seats. I have a feeling its in the wiring going from rear seat driver side or maybe both sides , the harness is very tight and short to rear console and then goes out to a main junction on the rear pillar . I am hoping that this guy can trouble shoot this as Infiniti will only give me 4500 trade in for this beautiful car, what thieves then they could fix it i would bet and sell it for 12k. So any one with this problem find a good installer that has good reviews and likes the challenge of troubleshooting . :nono:

I brought it into Infiniti and they are saying that the radio is defective not wiring. But wanted to charge me $800-900 just to replace the radio. I ordered a replacement online, and going to try that if that doesn't work then may have to bight the bullet.
