'06 M35: How Loud Should The Standard Exhaust System Be?

Here is a basic dumb question. My M35 has a pretty good growl to it. I assumed that this was the just the result of a tuned exhaust system. Is this the case? Mileage and performance are consistently good. Do these engines burn valves or suffer piston noise?

Im quite impressed with the exhaust system myself, am debating on whether there is a need to upgrade or not, I will probably just do the exhaust tips.Maybe if I listen to some sound clicks that are impressive and not too loud then I will do the upgrade.

I've got the stock system on my 06x and yes, it growls. Sounds like you're hearing what you're supposed to be hearing

mine at stock is quite loud and beefy sounding. I really dont see a need to upgrade either for better sound, and as the person above me said. The only thing I might replace is the tips, to give it a bit better look.

I did a search on youtube and heard a clip of the Stillen exhaust. It sounds pretty good....not too loud, but definitely a noticeable upgrade from stock. I was considering the HKS exhaust, but I'm definitely liking the Stillen more after hearing it.
