Howdy y'all,

First off lemme wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

I was in process of replacing an alternator on a 2006 M35 for my girlfriend. She bought the car used, and unknown to me, whoever last worked on the alternator apparently broke the pigtail connection from the wiring harness and had just connected the bare terminals onto the alternator pins. This wiring was covered by electrical tape so I couldn't see exactly where each terminal was actually connected to the alternator. When I realized that there was no pigtail, the wires were already loose, and their positions scrambled. I got a replacement pigtail today from the alternator shop to correctly fix this issue, but the wiring colors do not match the wiring on the cable harness. The owner/mechanic of the alternator shop has worked on very few Infiniti cars and was unable to find any kind of wiring diagram for the car or alternator that would help in this situation. Nor did I have any luck online or talking to various parts departments and stores etc... Attached is a photo of the new alternator and pigtail assembly and the original wiring (red/white, green/black, solid yellow). If anyone could give me some guidance to which wires go where, it would be greatly appreciated! I am hoping that it is as simple as red-red, green-green, etc but I want to make sure since she is going outta town for the holidays. Once again thank you in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the forum. You're in luck!

Check the FAQ thread in my signature and head on over to the factory service manual for your year...should show you the wiring for the alternator.
