hello, i dropped off my m45 at the dealer for minor adjustments, so i got 06 g35 sedan to drive as free rental. let me tell you. you need to drive it some time if you got a chance ,make wonder.#1. steering response better, (it is closer ratio streering rack)#2. transmission in manual mode just grate (it stays in gear like it should) dont even need the manual with it, just works perfect.#3. gears lower just pull hard in every gear . 280hp 270lbs.#4. susspantions better.only one problem is ugly.but if these was some way to put g35 transmission in m45. that would be it.just drive it if you have time. i am very impressed. and it is g35x too. 200lbs heavier them normal car. looks like it is time for a new g35 for me or even better lexus 350is.no need to reply just something to think about.later.

the lent me a g35x as well when i went to get my car serviced. It was fun (more so cause it was a loaner) but at the end of the day the interior finish and the look is what makes my M the better car.

they also gave me a g35 when i gave my m45 in to service. Its such a transition going from an M45 to a g35. I felt like i was in a 3 1/2 thousand pound golf cart. And theres nothing like that cheesy exhaust sound to really fulfill the experience.

the loaner I had was an '06 w/18k HARD miles on it.

The G35 definitely handled better, but was buzzier and felt like an inferior car build wise. The V8 in the M is just smoooth and I couldn't wait to get it back.

Exactly my thoughts ... I have done an comparison of my 2003 M45 to a G35 loaner before. It is the smoothness of power delivery in the V-8, combined with the better luxury interior is what made me buy the M45 - when my wife and I had gone in to get a G35 years ago!

Whoa, those were my exact choices when purchasing my M. I could have purchased for identical money out the door either car. The 06' was a six speed base G35. Brand new. The M45 was a C.P.O 04' in Desert Platinum with 30k. It was equipped with the technology and luxury package. Furthermore, they offered me the Infiniti Elite Warranty coverage as well. ($500.00, way less than usual) This Elite Warranty is also transferrable to any owner in the next 70,000 miles. $0 deductable once the bumper to bumper ends. Let me tell you, I was kinda tortured. I drove both extensively over a weekend. In the end, I realized the M was for me. I knew in a decreasing radius curve or any other corner, the G certainly corners better. Skidpad results certainly bear that out as well. Well, the G's cornering ability is in sports car territory. The Y34 M45 is not. However, it is still darn good and comparable to the cars with which it was intended to compete. Cornering that is.Where the M got me was in the interior. I simply love the interior of my car. The quality of materials is so much higher. Birds Eye Maple, Sojurner Leather, Intelligent Cruise..... Some of this also has to do when Carlos Ghosn came in and pulled a Lazarus on Nissan. He is not known as Le Cost Cutter for nothing. The Y34 was the last of what could be called "Old Nissan" The G35 represented the beginning of modern Infiniti where short of the QX56, everything is on essentially the same platform. (FM) There is simply something that speaks craftsmanship when I get in a 03/04 M or 02-06 Q45. The new ones are quite nice as well. However, the 06' base G35 simply didn't feel as nice. The new G35 has gone a long way in rectifying that problem. In fact, if I could have for the same money gotten a 07 G35 or my 04 M45, I would have purchased the G.I suppose for me, lots of HWY driving, living in God's Waiting Room, not many hills or twisties here in S.W Florida, the M's lack of cornering prowess compared to the G meant little. Everytime I am given a G loaner, I cannot wait to get mine back. With the new one out, perhaps not as much. I must state the obvious in that loaners are usually strippers while my M has every available option short of the spoiler and chrome wheels.Cheers,Mark
