Well its been a while and I have test driven every used 06 G35 in Orange County. I guess I am picky. When I find one that has all the options I wanted then I freak because I hear a noise. This car drive sweat, handles nice except it had a vibration in the stearing wheel while braking (warped rotors) and a low humming noise while driving (???) so the owner had the rotors turned thinking that was the cause. I test drove the car again today and again it drive nice and the warped rotors issue is gone.....BUT i still hear this low humming noise. I am having the car inspected tommorow at Hoehn Infiniti in Carlsbad,CA.

PS - This car has the sport pkg and the guy told me he changed the 19" rims and tires to 18" chrome rims from OCrims. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sports. I am not sure if this would effect it or not?

Anyone have any ideas of what the noise could be?

I have the Pilot sports on my front and They are loud. That might be the problem.

Can you describe the noise better?

Its most likely the front tires! Had the same problem when i bought mine, had the brakes checked, they were fine. Took it to another place and they told me it was the tires. New tires and noise is gone. If its the same noise that i had it will be especially loud while braking.....?

Thanks all. I am going to have them change the tires as part of the deal then take her for another spin.

The noise sounds like a low rumbling. It starts up on acceleration and slows down on decelleration. When I test drive cars I keep the radio off and listen for anything unusual. This is an AT and it has all the ear marks of a "Sport Pkg". How would I check?

I'm not really sure how you can tell on the coupes except for the wheels (auto) but if it is a 6MT (they all have the sport)

You can tell by the springs... The Sports are a little lower than the regular i think like .5 of an inch.

Do a search for lowering a g35 to 350z springs on google.. and i saw a website that showed the codes for each springs and I think they have a color code too!

Either your tires are scalloped, or you may be in need of a new wheel bearing.
