Hey guys, a buddy of mine is having clutch issues with his 06 G35 (~60,000 miles).

For a few months his pedal would randomly not properly spring all the way back up after pressing it down, and recently it only pops up to the half way mark. He asked me what's wrong and I told him it could range from just topping off your clutch master cylinder to issues with your pressure plate. In the mean time I told him to manually bring the pedal 100% of the way up when it stays at 50%.

From my research it's most likely the master and slave cylinders need replacing but it could also be a warn clutch pedal spring. Those who mention clutch fluid usually mention checking it's color; if the fluid is dark then it's dark because of overheating and replacing the fluid is most likely the fix for the issue.

Wondering what you guys think about it? Also any specific component suggestions would be awesome; like what's the best fluid to use etc.

Had the same problem with my 06 G35 at 92k miles.
Dealer replaced the slave cylinder and fluid under warranty in July 2009. No charge
