I read DeanM45's post about this, and I wanted to know has anyone else done the swap from an 08 model. He stated some features didn't work, but didn't specify what didn't work. I've replied to his post with no response, so I figured I'd see if anyone else has any insight.

As far as I know, no one else has done it besides him (that stated they did anyway).

Also, in the future, please try to avoid creating duplicate threads. It clutters the search feature. Unless a thread is like 10 years old, just post in the threads that discuss what your issue/question is. Thanks.

Actually I posted in the original thread, but no response from DeanM45, so I created a new one. I understand what you're saying, I've been on quite a few different forums throughout the years and duplicate threads are a problem. Thanks.

Yeah, I realize you did. If you don't get a response there, you'll likely not get much better in your own thread especially if it's something as 'one-off' as what Dean accomplished.

Members, does anyone have Dean's contact info and can get him in here?

HA! I'm here, just been traveling a lot (just got back from Syracuse, I like up state New York!)

Anyhow, None of the big control buttons worked nor did the center dial. The a/c functions worked aside from the dual function. Might just need to re-assign some of the pins on the connector but I did not bother to mess with it. Having the circuit boards in my hand (06-07 and 08+) showed that they were COMPLETELY different on layout and by a different manufacturer.

Ok sounds like changing the LEDs is the only option. Can the buttons from the 08 fit an 06? I think the black/silver buttons look a lot better. Did you change the color of the lower control panel? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I really appreciate it.

The buttons will fit but they are marked differently. Right side is OK but on the left the Map and Route buttons are switched and each button is specific to its location (because of the center stalk). What lower panel?

Clock/CD player control panel. Never noticed that before you said about the route and map being swapped. Thanks man! I think that's it for now.

My man! lol.

BTW, upstate NY blows. I hate it up here. I'm 3hrs east and can't wait for the day when I move south to any point south of Charlotte, NC. This whole state sucks. High standard of living, taxes, etc. A house up here that is $300k is $180k in the south.

Anyway, sorry for the OT.

LOL, you been to SoCal lately? Nice place to visit but......
I spend a lot of time in Greensboro/Raleigh. Like the Carolinas quite a bit. Next time I'm over on the east coast I'll let you know.
