06 Burning oil?

Hey Guys I am new to this site. I have an 06 Murano SL with only 80k. The engine is burning 2 1/2 quarts in 4ks miles according to the dealership. The SUV did have a bad rear main seal that at 70k and was replaced with a new one. I have a warranty with the dealership and they want to replace the engine but I have to fork over extra money to have this done according to the warranty company. I have been taking to the same dealership for oil changes and they been using non-syn. oil every 7500 miles. I bought this car last year with 65ks miles on it. The car runs great I can hear the chain when the oil gets low. Of course I add some to it. My warranty runs out in another 50k miles. I am thinking about try synthetic oil the next oil change and getting a second opinion about this problem before getting an engine replacement. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks Thomas
