it seems that there are some subtle and not so subtle differences between the M's from the above stated years. for gadget freaks like myself it appears that the voice recognition isnt as good in the current gen as it is in the previous. also the bourbon interior seems to be unavailable in the current gen. when I was looking 4 years ago for the diamond graphite/bourbon interior I was in love with it and I still like it though I now like the wheat interior as well. price aside, what are the pros and cons of one gen over the other. the warranty issues shouldnt be mentioned unless someone strongly feels that they will come into play. thanks in advance.

Don't forget the most obvious is the price. They are all wonderfully equipped machines w/more than enuf gadgets. I have an '06 premium w/plenty to play with. Price will probably play the most important factor-unless you are The Donald...

You're the first I've heard to mention a downgrade in the VR system.... the main differences, like with the second series G35 in 05 and 06 were mostly as a mid-generation refreshening. The car was given additional refinement and updated body and wheel design, with interior changes being less. The trans got different programming and the option packages were condensed and realigned. The pros are mainly overall improvement. I personally love both, but would give up unspecified organs and/or body parts for a second series M45 sport.

2008s have Lane Departure Prevention while 07s just have Warning. 08s added rain sensing window wipers. They also have a slightly changed grill and the rear design is quite different to those who are very familiar with the 06-07s. You can compare that by searching Google Images. They added the red "S" badge to Sports models as well (but that can easily be added to the 06-07).

I read on a post here or on another board that the 08 and up now offers nested menu responses as opposed to the direct spoken choices. there was some question as to whether this was done for legal reasons. the direct spoken method is similar to what I had in my 04 acura tl. my current 06 lexus IS 350 has terrible voice command.

HP and torque were significantly upgraded for the '09 MY. Alas, EPA mileage figures dropped. The RWD '09 M35 got a seven-speed auto transmission which provides a taller overall gear ratio in top gear.

As far as I can see, no dramatic changes have occurred in the M35 models over their lifespan. The changes that have been made are evolutionary, not revolutionary.

It now appears that the '11 MY will bring about a major redesign.
