Thank you for your help in advance. I have a customer with a 06 350Z Enthusiast Model. He wants to buy and install a Turbonetics Turbo kit. After doing some research and speaking with tech support at Turbonetics they have informed me that their turbo kit will not work on the 06 models b/c of something to do with the piping interfering with the steering in the 06. The tech mentioned to me that we could change out some of the steering components to one of the older 350z models. I have done some searching on the internet and no luck finding any information.

Could anyone here on the NICO Boards give me some information regarding this problem or similar problems and maybe even some guidance.

Thanks again George Meyers

not sure what the fitment issue is with the 06 but why not just use another kit that's intended for the 06? and if you must use that kit on that car why not just do a dry fit find out why it doesn't clear and add a spacer or hose or fab whatever you need to work around the issue? be glad you have a kit to work from, on a less popular car you'd have to fab the whole thing

Thanks for all the replies....I know that the Turbonetics websites says "05-06" but Turbonetics tech support crew tells me that it will NOT WORK, due to something on the steering linkage. They even got the VIN number and validated it to be sure.

With all this in mind does anyone know if the steering setup is different on the 05 & 06. If so what is the difference?

Thanks George Meyers

I think the 05 aniversary models and the 06 got the "rev up" motor, not sure what if anything externally would be different on the motor, so why not use the correct kit? or just do a littel fab work?

I didn't know they had a different steering setup. I wonder what's really the difference.

I had the same question, so I contacted Turbokits.com and this is the answer I received:

"The 03 kit will not work, but we do have a version of the kit for the 06. It does include a different engine management system that comes with the pre-programmed MAP to work with your car. The additional engine management system sells for $595. Please let me know if you have any further questions or would like to order. Thanks!"

Hope that helps!

I can't recall exactly when, but the Z did switch from engine speed dependent power steering assist to vehicle speed dependent assist. But somehow I don't think that wouldd cause any clearance issues as the hardware would likely remain similar.
