Just wanted to verify with some of you guys that there is a redesigned valve cover replacement TSB for the 06-07' M45's.

This was verified by my local Infiniti dealer service manager. He is not certain, but he believes this is only performed by a case by case basis.I assume your M45 has to be consuming oil or blowing blue smoke upon start up to have this performed. He told me that they would take care of this issue on my next oil change interval which is coming up in the next 600 miles or so. He also said they would take another look at the AC compressor's constant ticking noise and replace if necessary since they will be working on it anyways. *Side Note: Some 07' M45's that were built later in the year 2007 already came with the redesigned valve covers.

For you 08' & up M45 guys....you are out of luck! As you do not need the updated valve covers because you already have them!

Pictures?? I haven't had them installed yet, plus I'm not sure if there are any pictures of the different valve covers floating around the net. I'm sure the change is very minor to where it may be hard to distinguish the differences with them installed.

Can you verify how this TSB is acted upon? Will a M45 that gets brought through for service automatically get this update or is it only performed on a case by case basis??

So with my coffee this morning I went through and tried to find the specific tsb number referrencing this issue. I found nothing...there is only 1 engine mechanical tsb for 06+ engine mechanical related concerns and that is how to diagnose variable valve timing issues. Oh and one for blue coolant but that is not relevant.

I think we may not be talking about the same thing.

M4t5- well since there is nothing in the database I cannot say that anything would get replaced. This is not to say that the valve covers have not been updated it just means there is no supporting bulletin.

Thanks for the clarification. I was only quoting my local Sewell Infiniti's service manager's words. He told me they would be replacing the valve covers to the 08'+ M45 valve covers. Supposedly he found this info after I mentioned what one of his master tech's told me. He did specifically tell me it was a TSB. Wonder where he received his info??Either way....he said they would be changed to the updated valve covers in concern with the oil consumption and exhausting blue smoke upon start up issue. He also said he would be bringing this to his District Managers attention as well.

I guess we'll soon find out what happens.

On the Infiniti side of the fence the only model I have seen with valve cover replacements was the 05-07 Gs with a manual transmissions when it was first reported that they were using oil in excess. So this is not a new issue to the engineers and they redesigned the VC baffles and structure, this did not work for the G35 but I think it would have slightly more impact on the M. I still don't know what the new PN is so when you get a receipt let me know. There have been countless times when they update a part and don't tell anyone unless you have an issue and have to call someone. That maybe what happened in this case.

Any update on this TSB? I'm just starting this research effort and would appreciate any shortcut to the most recent posts as these seem to all be three years old.

Any update on the TSB or part number for this? I've got the oil consumption/blue smoke on start up blues... Just 47,000 on a 2007 M45
