So, now that I lowered my car...the last plans I have for the car are:
  • Either a Sarona replica OEM lip kit or 08+ bumper
  • OEM trunk spoiler (already have it - need to get it painted and installed)
  • Fix the sound system rattles (speaker replacements may be in order)
  • Exhaust - hopefully the MXP one from this thread - I sent them another message today. Last I heard they wanted to do it around April 7th.
  • Probably a clear lens swap on the projector in the headlight
The question I have is...based on this thread (2006 Infiniti M45 to 2008 M45S BUMPER CHANGEOUT), there seems to be a gap between the bumper when the swap is done.

Can you guys tell me if that is actually the case and if the parts in that thread are in fact what is needed? I want it to look like it came from the factory, no gaps, etc. If there is gaps, I will just get the lip kit.

So, please post up as many pictures as you have and an approximate cost that it ran you.

Thanks!

But you have 08 headlights too right?

I'm wondering (since we talked about this) if 06-07 headlights are the reason why there is a gap.

Ya I have the 2008 Headlights also. But idk for sure if that could be the reason. I would assume so cause the frame from 06 to 10 has not been changed just a little different body lines. So in this case the headlights could be different.

@ Ilya

I think the gap is due to 08+ Ms being slightly wider and is just a matter of being precise with the install. ( that would explain the need of new fender liner ) I doubt the headlights being different size. Last Friday I bought used sport headlight set off of 07 and will be doing my bumper swap pretty soon ( my M is 08 non sport) so I will let you know wether its the headlights but I dont think so.

headlights are the same

I have read it's the pad behind the bumper that may leave a gap at the headlights, some just trim it.

@Ilya
And as far as pricing goes it will all depend on wether you buy new or used
Bumper cover from 300-350
Grille- 230 new
Lower grille -95
Fog trim covers- 65 each
Paint - 200-400 depends on shop /quality
+ Install if you will have somebody else doing it
That list was for me minus the grille I had a spare used which I painted.
But I dont know if 06-07 needs anything else like the air deflector, energy absorber or the fender liners( according to other member there is a gap in the fender liner) but finding used parts is very hard. Hope this helps

thanks for this thread I am in the process of paying off my M so I will start modding her this Summer beyond rims, brakes, rotors, and lowering, which I have already done. the 2008 sport bumper looks better than most body kits to me.

Agreed on the last bit.

Thanks guys for the posts. I have a friend who will paint great for dirt cheap and help with install so really I just need to budget for parts. Sounds like I'll be better off investing in the bumper than the lip kit from Sarona on EBay.

I recommend getting the fender liners as well. The gaps on the sides drove me nuts

^ +1 the 08 fender liners are a must have. After my bumper swap, I picked up a set of the fender liners from Infiniti Parts USA, they shipped them in a few days and I installed them with out removing the wheels....

no gaps on my install...really depends on the shop and how they manage to have things line up. The shop I went to does a lot of work on Infiniti's (G, M, FX...) so parts weren't over priced. I also had the lower grill and fog light housing customized with wire mesh....I didn't like the stock 08 lower bumper pieces...

Hi guys im new here!

I want to do the bumper swap and have been unsuccesfully looking for pics of the side of a car with 08 bumper and no aero kit or any other mods to the back or side

also can someone point me to a thread that shows how to install 08 grill on an 06 without the 08 bumper I want to do that first since its cheaper.

last thing I promise  are there modifications needed to install 08 headlights on an 06?

thanks guys the site is awesome!!!!

help is appreciated
