towed her from the salvage yard by pushing the shifter lock release and putting her in neutral. front headlights and hood smashed ... both air bags deployed. went in neutral no problem. put a new battery in and reset the alarm. starts ... runs. but indicator light stays in Park, shift the lever into any gear and car is still in Park. Lifted car and checked linkage, shifts as it should. But car is still in Park. Push lock release and shift without key on, still in Park. OBD 2 reader shows me nothing, as in blank. Shows RPMs Temp, but no codes. Arm and disarm alarm, no help.
What am i missing here???

forgot to post i also disconnected the battery, pushed in the shifter lock release, and put the car in Neutral ... but it is still in Park.

flatbed. you can't tow rear wheel drive cars with the drive shaft connected. burns the transmission up due to no lubrication ... which you were guessing might be the issue ..
