greetings all. Im not new to forums, but i am new to this one. although i have read the 'read before posting' threads, im still not sure about where to put this, so this is my best guess.

im looking long and hard at aquiring an '05 Sentra Special Edition. (yeah, one of those threads >.<)

ok, for those of you that are still here

30K miles / $13,998 sticker1.8 4cylSpecial Edition has the Performance and Audo upgrades, or at least i think so, from what ive read onlineRock-Fos 6disk in-dash changer + amp + sub in the trunk (assuming is an option, as it has 'Nissan' beside Rock Fos on the sub itself)

after seeing the car in person (on a sunday, when the place is actually closed), it looks very nice. wasnt able to test drive it, or talk with a salesperson, but so far, the car has already sold me. however. it almost sounds too good to be true. Very nice condition, no damage on exterior, very clean interior (as in, no smoking or pet odor / burn marks, no unusual wrinkles in fabric, no sagging in headliner, as such would be expected from a car only 2 yrs old). the car is a powerful red color. i didnt notice any scraping / draging marks around the bottom of the trim, doesnt appear, at first glance, that it was changed at all from factory/stock production.

my current vehicle is a '96 Volvo GLT wagon. Non-Turbo. honestly, its a nice car, and my changes have made it very unique in my area (kansas)(http://www.volvoforums.com/pho...age=1) . however, we dont need a wagon. we also have an intrepid, which has more than ample space for just myself and my wife. IF the kids come, it still has plenty of room with the car-seat jacks attached. so, although i like the volvo, im not happy with a N/A station wagon. The gas milage isnt great (16c/21h), and it has the riding comfort of a pickup.

anyways, what are some opinions on the Special Edition? i have been looking around the web, including this and other Nissan Forums, and havent really found much on the negative aspect. there HAS to be something, as everything does. the extent of my findings are mostly just comparing to the Spec V models, which is not applicable. im in the market for a new car, and this one just called me out.

is there any current recalls on the car, that i didnt find? (my volvo had a wiring recall for heated seats)is there any known engine malfunctions / errors / oddities with the 1.8 engine? how upgradable is the engine? (my volvo has hit its peak, with a friggin K&N factory replacement airfilter, and aftermarket exhaust)

again, sorry for this style of post, but i didnt find any in search that answered actual questions that i had.

(if redirected, understood, just plz leave link to find it again )

Why dont you get an sr20? I dont think you can do much with the 1.8l past exhaust and intake. For $14k id get a 99+ g20 then have plenty of money to play with afterwards. You get the comfort of a foriegn luxury car with the reflexes of a sports car. What are your plans for your new car? Are you looking for a 'Ricky-Race' or just going to keep it simple?

actually, im not planning on 'tuning' it, just some minor upgrades, like what you said, just the intake/exhaust.

its in a used lot, of a gm dealer, so there isnt the option of other models, unless i start the adventure of traveling to other cities. i dont have the cash outright to buy it, im using my volvo as a trade in (since i owe nothing on it, its all towards down payment).

the car is just for personal use, i.e. work, school, travels, etc. theres not going to be track or street racing, its just a get around vehicle. what really drawn me in, was the 14k for an 05 nissan. oh and the mpg. i could look for older models, but its not really what im wanting - trying to get something from this millenium. theres nothing wrong with getting a 90's model, but i have a 96, so i dont feel like its worth that much for just 3 yrs.

honestly, i would think of it as a downgrade, going from a full luxury-option volvo with ample space, 2.3L, to a 'compact' class car, with almost 0 legroom in the back (im 6'1, so anybody behind me, will be sitting indian style, or behind the passenger), and 1.8L. im not looking for a 'pocket-rocket' per say, just a nice newish car with mpg and some zip. the special edition package, is a definate kicker, with the sound+performance packages combined in this one.

im just looking for possitive / negative apsects about this car, not comparatives to others.

thank you, however, for the suggestion. will keep it in mind if something doesnt fall into place with this one.

Oh, alright, then i think it sounds great. I havnt heard any recalls or problems with the '05s, so i'd say go for it! Goodluck with the new car.
