JATCO the manufactor of transmission specifies certain parameters under which they will cover the transission up to 70k beyond that Nissan takes over on ectended warranties.

Using an ATF where the stick-slip characteristics don't compy with the dual lockup clutch parameters can result in faster wear or unstable shift feel.

As with all ATF frequent changes are best to maintain and restore near new shifts.

Remember these trannies are significantly more expensive than the old $3,000 4 speed AT roughly $1500 per gear so be careful.

I can't wait until someone trashes a 7 speed AT!

Newer owners of VK series cars and trucks all seem to have ignored the obvious benefits of adding an auxiliary ATF cooler that the G50 owners learned the hard way.

Never tried anything else. What are you trying to gain from using a different ATF brand? Any improvement will most likely be "phantom", hence you may as well continue using the recommend ATF.

1) B&M 70268 or 70264 http://www.bmracing.com/PRODUC...olers

Usually best deal at http://www.summitracing.com

2) tough to exchange ATF without appropriate machine. All the rest are drain and refill. Don't neglect PS fluid! How is the brake fluid? Filters?

Brake fluid looks good base on the service record the pads were change in Nov n rotors turn. Havnt check the ps fluid yet but i will n i changed the air filter today as well ...Well i just did the 1st drain and only 3 qts came out. I have a 100 mile commute today so after that i will drain it again this way hopefully i get out most of the older fluids. ps another good thing i noticed about the 05 vs my 03 is that this one has a transmission dip stick which is def a plus ...im going to do a search to see if anyone has pics of there cooler on here im curious to see it and the reviews

F50 auxiliary ATF cooler installations are almost non-existent, if not so.

Drain and refill of ATF is just a dilution of contaminated ATF fluid. Much prefer the mechanical exchange and 98% new fluid, personally. Time is short.

Don't neglect cabin and seat filters if you have the latter.

Brake fluid every 2 years.

By the way, the time to change fluids is dictated by time or service cycle. If they are degad visually, it has been too long a change interval.

i was going have it flush at the dealership and they told me that with mileage they wouldnt recommend flushing it (86k).....so i guess my only choice is to change it a couple times to get as much of the old fluid out as possible which is what im doing now i drained and refill it twice already today

Just be sure to drive it or run the engine a few minutes in between drain/fills to mix the fluid well- if you are only getting 3 quarts out per drain, aim for 4-5 drain/fills total to effectively replace most of the old atf with new.

After that, a single drain/fill{using 3 quarts new atf} during every oil change{90 days} will maintain like new atf for life, and be a quick, economical, easy procedure to perform. No need to waste the 100-200 dollars using a "machine" to perform this simple maintenance routine......let someone else provide the quick profits to the shops that push this moneymaker.

With no proof of previous flush, most shops will refuse it due to liability issue.

You can actually drain and refill using the charging pipe (dipstrick) for filling and ATF coolant return line for the drain (FSM procedure). But this can be MESSY as the drain rate is fast (@ 4 quarts/min) so you have to keep on pouring new fluid non-stop until you have drained at least 11 quarts out. Then measure actual amount drained and add fluid as required.

Two-and-half years ago, when I did the pan drop followed by 3 drain-and-refill, I consumed about 17 quarts (5 quarts with pan drop and @ 4 quarts each drain). Last year, with just multiple drain and refill, I consumed 13+ quarts (4.5+4.5+4.3 quarts). You have to wait a little longer to get at least 4 quarts drained each time. Make sure the ATF is at the correct level and engine is warm before starting the actual drain and refill. I run the engine for 2 mins while changing gears, stop then drain immediately. I do this 3 times in a row w/o driving out.

BTW, discounted price of Mati-S from IoS - infinitipartsUSA.com is $8.11/quart (MSRP $10.82). And they have free shipping til the end of the month for orders >$75 (coupon code LUCKYSHIP). except for bulky body parts.

thanks for the info ive drain and refill twice today i will do the rest today. As for the s matic fluid i picked them up local at the dealership at $9.80 per quart so its not that bad. The Nissan dealership here wants $18.50 per quart so i asked them whats the diff and he said "oh they might just have a bigger stock than us" LMAO.....ill also be draining the coolant return line too as well i have enough containers to catch most of the fluid lol...thanks for the info man
