I can buy a 05 Q45 from Infiniti dealer for about 27 grand.

Good deal? 50,000 milesshould I get Infiniti warranty?

I own a '96 Q and love it, will keep it for my 'city' car using the 05 for freeway. people drive like maniacs here in SF. Major wrecks every hour, major injuries also, need more air bags.

Welcome to NICO!

Sounds like a decent deal to me considering what they are new. You can go and book it at KBB.com or NADA.com and see what you are looking at. Don't let them screw you.

whenever you have the chance to get the infiniti 100k warranty, you probably should. really though, the car will probably not give you many problems, if any. The F50 Qs really have very few problems, but are also very new compared with the G50s.... takes time for cars to show their true colors.....

27k isnt that bad for an 05, since those are a little harder to find than the 02-04s and have some nice feature upgrades as well as some cosmetic differences... Just going by what I know, i wouldnt say its a steal, but its a decent price for a great car. Certainly, for what you get its amazing but that price compared to market value is average to slightly over, so you're certainly not getting bent over.

get the car, drive the piss out of it, change the fluids often, and never look back.

Looks like a good deal to me. Is it the premium package? You could tell by the number of spokes in the rim. Eight spokes is the base model and seven spoke is the premium. Get the extended warranty and enjoy your new ride.

Its the other way around 8 is the premium/sport and 7 is base. Thats from 02-04. 05-06 is the 10 spoke 5star wheels that come on the M45.

I say get this car and dont look back. You cant get more car for the money especially considering the year it was built. I have driven in 745's, s500's and other flag ships and none of the come close to all the options the F50 has (im comparing same model years) for the about half the price of its competitors.

IMO if the seller is providing an extended warranty "FREE" then of course take it. If not you are wasting your money, but, it's yours to do so.

The extended warranty racket is just another gambit to increase revenue along with kick backs on financing deals. There is not much profit in new car sales today or so they say. Seems like there should be at least a 100000 mile warranty included with the sale. Ask for an extended warranty for up to 300000 AFTER the 100000 ? ? ?

If you are buying THIS car and have doubts about it going at least 200000 + miles pretty much trouble free then you should not be getting involved.

Cars, today with decent maintenance, will easily reach 200000 + miles. Seems like Hyundai has great warranties. For example: 10 year 100000 powertrain protection, 5 year 60000mile bumper to bumper, 5 year unlimited miles roadside assistance. I'm reading this in my local paper. THAT is HYUNDAI. Nice looking cars too.

In closing, it's YOUR bucks of course but really buying an extra warranty for any car only up to 100000 miles is pissin' it away. And for an Infinity it is double pissin'

Good luck. Jack

I also have a 96 Q with 217k on it . It's my road warrior, my commute to and from work is about is about 85 miles. Fortunately it is a quick one, about two miles in the beginning and less at the end of some high speed driving ( my favorite part of the day is driving to and from work).

I sold the 2k anniversary Q and got into a Black/Latte 05 Q45 with 32k for $27,000. Well I thought my car was pretty fast, and I still do but this thing is a whole different animal. Very nimble and extremely fast. The 05's come with the premium package, the upgrade has a/c seats, a special cruise control , the rear seats are adjustableand they have 18" wheels. They only sold 1129 so you're not going to see many around. If you have the opportunity to get one, you will be very pleased, it's a class act.

I wish I had that 5 speed transmission in my 96.

I have a base '05 Q45 after my last '94 Q45t. You'll love the '05. Considerably faster, corners flatter, gets about the same fuel mileage or better. The 5 speed auto trans is MUCH better, for driving at least, and the many goodies that are extras on other cars are great too. Only drawback is that the steering isn't as crisp, and the car tends to understeer in fast curves. Turning off the VDC and setting the suspension to Sport mitigates that though. You'll like the HID low beams (but will have to upgrade the high beams), the rain-sensing wipers auto headlights, and the backup camera. It's a great car, and I like mine a lot. $27k is cheap for an'05 in my book. Base car sold for $56k new, so buying a low mileage 2 year old for half price is a pretty good deal. I got the extended warranty on mine. It's not likely that you'll see any other '05s, so you won't see yourself coming and going. Don't forget to flush ALL fluids when you get it and do a 4 wheel alignment, then do it regularly afterward. It's cheap insurance for long life.

Check out the history first, then if it checks out okay, grab it before it gets away.

I have an 02 Q45 Sport with 65k that I purchased about 3 months ago for $18k and it has been perfect.

The car is amazing, especially with the 18" wheels. Fast as a bullet, handles amazingly well, and from the looks of the service history, has not had many issues. Put a decent set of tires on it and it will blow you away.

The F50 seems to me to be one of those cars that will drive forever (knock on wood).

Good luck!

I bought my 02 with 33K miles on it for $19K.

$27K isn't bad for the 05 but it's the 50K miles on it that bothers me for that money.

I think you MIGHT be able to do better.

But no matter what, you gotta do the warranty.

I didn't and found out later they're not avail. in CA unless it's thru the dealer.

California left wing law to protect ignorant buyers from fly by night warranty crooks without enough reserves to honor contract.

So many US car warranty companies went bankrupt 2-3-4-5 years ago and the smart ones moved prior to Caymans and Bangladesh.

Man a honest crook has a hard time making his living in CA.

API, or Automotive Professionals Inc, based in Illinois, filed bankruptcy, leaving more than 300-thousand warranty owners in limbo. Our extended warranty company 1SourceAutoWarrantee (reinsurer is Primeguard)went insolvent.........................etc etc dozens every 3 year cycle.

I think buying an extended warranty (unless from Infiniti) is not a good idea. You can save that money to spend on the car.

Most of these after market companies will try their best not to cover you especially for high dollar repairs.
