So as a relatively new owner (6 weeks) of a Q, I read these forums and have paid attention to my dip stick on a weekly basis. I was adding a quart of oil every 2 weeks or so. Today, expecting to add oil, my dipstick said I was full. Can't say my driving style has changed, still doing the same amount of highway vs. city, but kinda' surprised (and happy), the oil level was still full. I would have thought consumption would have been generally consistent. Anyone else notice fluctuations like this, or am I losing my mind (which is a distinct possibility)?

Oil consumption issue is more common with the 02Q. I never have had to add oil in our 03Q when my OCI was 4 months/4000 miles. But when I extended it to 6 months/6000 miles, I have to add @ 3/4 quart in between. I only changed the OCI after the UoA (Used Oil Analysis) from Blackstone came out good.

I'm using Mobil 1 'synthetic' 10W-30 and may switch to 0W-40 in the future.

The majority of Q45 (F50) experience oil consumption. Just keep a close eye out on your oil level every 1-2k miles and you should be fine. It almost doesn't make much sense using synthetic oil due to the fact the Q45 burns oil and since conventional oil works just fine.
