05 Q45 - Low oil

Owned the car about a year, the engine oil slowly disappears, where does it go. No drips from the engine, no smoke out the exhaust. By the time for the regular oil change, I have already put in a couple of quarts in between oil changes. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Yep, the VK45DE with its looser rings can be an oil burner with extended OCI or improper break in, or just too loose from the factory.

You need to have an oil level monitoring program done by the dealer, presuming you are still in warranty. If you get the old "A quart evey 1K miles is fine" argument, ask for an appointment with the Infiniti are service representative.

What does the the Infiniti Dealer Performed Service History reveal? Confirmed maximum 3,750 OCI?

Oil Change Interval. What does your dealer performed history say? Any other maintenance documentation? If you don't have a complete history, have the service writer print it out for you by asking very nicely.

Change the oil every 5k. Don't have the dealer history yet, will obtain when I take it in for service.

This ain't good- an 05 burning oil? I thought it was just the 02 and 03's!!

No, any VK45DE is susceptible because of the design. Smoe Y34 and FX45 and later F50 owners lilke to think they are immune, but they are not.

Infiniti says severe duty is urban driving and OCI is 3,750.
