I was just reading about it in a post here so I decided to Google it...Holy crap this is some serious sh*t here!I kind have the same problem as some of these other people ... Sometimes when I'm idling, I get no heat so I put it in neutral and rev the motor to 1500 rpms and I get heat.Anyone have the cooler leaking into the trans problem? Any recalls or class action lawsuits?I sure don't want to pay $5000-$8000 for a trans!

sweet, looks like a change of the radiator is all it needs before the problem occurs.

Yup,I'm getting my trans fluid tested to see if it's been contaminated...If so the dealer will be hearing from me.

edit: after reading two of the links, that is some horse pooo. Why can't the trans cooler be a separate cooler? Why did Nissan have to integrate it into the coolant radiator?

For al those curious about the condition of their trans fluid, you can have a sample sent to blackstone labs for testing and they will get you results in about 2-3 weeks. You of course have to request your free sample bottle, but then send in your $23 payment when you send in your sample. I've done 5 oil samples and have been pleased, but haven't sent any trans fluid samples. Maybe this is a good time to start.

Where do trans fluid and coolant share the same theoretical space or come in close proximity to each other? Do they share the radiator on 2004 and earlier? I'm not near the truck to take a look.

I spoke to a trans guy and he said by putting the trans cooler in the radiator, it keeps the trans temp below 240*...An external cooler would make the trans run too hot.He definitely recommended me to have the Radiator redone....Better to spend a few hundred rather then a few thousands.
