Hello all,

I have a friend with a 2005 maxima se 3.5 that I am trying to diagnose/repair the issue. So far the car has been to 3 mechanics and 1 stealership, It has had a computer(dealership), spark plugs (Mech 1), 3 coils (me), cats (Mech1), O2 sensors (Mech 2+3), battery + cables (dealer), cam sensor (Mech3), and MAF sensor (me) thrown at it. I don't know what the prior symptoms where like but upon me getting the car it was running rough and cant get out of its own way, by replacing the bad coils and the MAF I was able to get it to idle smoothly but the problem only slightly improved. After putting my scanner on it and looking at the data outputs the fuel system goes from closed to open when I raise the RPM's above 2k. My theory is that its a fuel pump, but was curious as to where I plug in a fuel pressure tester?

Other information: with the car in drive if I give it gas it sounds like its starving for fuel, I can hear the intake(factory) pulling a lot of air, the car will not go above 40mph (after MAF replacement). with the car in park the motor will not rev beyond 2500rpm with the same intake sounds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I very rarely, if ever, mess with anything outside of Italian or German cars so I'm hoping I am at least in the right direction with my diagnosis.

I'm sorry for being a bother but does anyone have an answer for this? I would love to get this car back to its owner so he has a vehicle to drive.

You will need to disable the fuel pump fuse, start the car to run it out of
fuel, and "T" in a fuel pressure gauge after the fuel filter to check the
pressure. Make sure you have a new fuel filter in place first.
The specs for the fuel pump are in the floor shop manual

Thankyou for your response, after all that BS it turns out Nissan never did their job, they installed the computer and never programmed it.
