Just picked up an 05 Infiniti g35 and am replacing the pass side axle. It looks like the axle seal is in some kind of retainer on the diff and one of the ears broke off on the left side. It looks like theres some sort of gasket or shims Im guessing between the retainer and the diff. My question is, are there different size shims because I'm replacing the whole retainer and seal...I just wasnt sure how important those shims are and want to make sure I get the right size shims. I ordered everything from the dealer in Indy for around $79 with the exception of the shims. I want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.
