Hello all,

I found you guys through a friendly search and hope to find some help.

I bought my wife a 05 g35X about a month ago. I did not get any maunal or such sadly.. When She goes to start the car sometimes the key does not seem to be detected by the car. The little light thing does not turn green and the car doesn't start. She has been trying a system of exiting the car and locking it then coming back again after a couple minutes. Usually this will work after one or two tries.

Do we have a bad battery or is it something security related we just dont know?

Its a great car so far, but not starting right away is driving us crazy.

Hmmm... I'm not 100% sure... let me see if anyone else has experienced this.

And welcome to NICO!

The first thing I would try is just replacing the battery in the fob.

If that doesn't work, it's beyond my knowledge haha.

Did you buy it from a dealer or private party? If you bought it from a dealer, if the battery thing doesn't work, you could take it back and ask them to look into it, especially if they gave you some sort of warranty. Places, from my experience, will do certain repairs for you for free after very recently buying the vehicle from them.

yeah i imediatly replace my key fob bettery when i got m 05 g35x... if that doesnt work try putting the key closer to the dash and see if it is detected...

if so the antena in the car that detects the key fob might have a loose connection or be damaged some how... maybe an aftermarket alarm or radio was installed and they pulled the wire to the antena...

on another fourm a guy was installing an after market radio and he somehow discinnected the car's key fob antena.. and had the same problems you are decribing...

hope that helps

Wow, you guys are fast! I am looking at the FOB and not sure how to open, is this something I can do?

Is it a special battery or something I can get at a Radio Shack. I am sure there must be a good info thread but don't seem to find it with a search.

Thanks again!

Oh and we did buy it from a Dealer but with a 30 limit on the service. They are a Lexus dealer and had not processed the car when we offered, we saved money but they would not give any support without the recertification and such (at a steep cost).

Go back and in a nice way complain.

If they don't fix it be sure to let us know who the dealer was?

This is from a 2006 manual, but it should be the same. If you want to look at your manual, it's in the Maintenance and do-it-yourself section (8-29 to be exact in the 06).

INTELLIGENT KEY

CAUTION Be careful not to allow children to swallow the battery and removed parts.

Replace the battery as follows:

1. Release the lock knob at the back of the Intelligent Key and remove the mechanical key.

2. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver wrapped with a cloth into the slit of the corner and twist it to separate the upper part from the lower part.

3. Replace the battery with a new one.

Do not touch the internal circuit and electric terminals as it could cause amalfunction. Recommended battery: CR2025 or equivalent

Make sure that the + side faces the bottom of the case. The + mark isstamped on the bottom of the case.

4. Align the tips of the upper and lower parts, and then push them togetheruntil it is securely closed.

5. Push the buttons two or three times to check its operation.

See an INFINITI dealer if you need any assistance for replacement.

Perfect, Ill give it a try tomorrow.

As for the dealer, we are getting a second FOB and a owners manual out of them. Plus we already got new floor mats. So I cant complain really!

Just a quick follow up. I changed out the battery this weekend and things are working like a champ!

Thanks guys. I definately be back as we get to know the new car further.

BTW, anyone know where I might be able to find a owners manual? I have been haunting ebay but no luck so far.
