So my wifes G35 Sedan had the VDC Off and Slip lights come on the other day. At first I thought it was another cam sensor, but the MIL light is not illuminated, and there are no codes. ABS light is not on, and I can feel it self testing. No drive-ability or starting issues. Brake lights are working. Brake fluid is to the full line. Rotors are warped, but otherwise the brake pad depth and brake system is good. The lights first came on a few miles from startup, but now come on at startup every time, and stay on.

From what I've gathered from the FSM, all testing on this system starts with "Connect Consult" - which I don't have. Is there a common failure in the VDC system that I might try fixing before I consider taking this for a paid diagnostic?

A few possibilities - Brake switch (25320-AX00C) can cause this.

In less common cases, low battery voltage, brake fluid low, and wheel speed sensor issues have been to blame.

From looking at the FSM, it looks like the VDC control unit uses the same signal off of the switch as the actual stop lights, and they are working. Cruise control brake switch also appears to be working... checked that last night. I probably need to put the car up on jack stands to see if any of those sensor wires look wonky.

It's your camshaft position sensors change both but with only oem dealer sensors and everything will be back to normal... I had same exact situation happen to me tried couple eBay and amazon sensors waste of time lmao

:welcome: to NICO!

I suspected the same thing at first, but I had one of those fail in the past - and that time I had a MIL with the camshaft position sensor code, as well as the "Slip" and "VDC Off" lights. The car also took longer to start and would shut off with no warning. On both my G, and a friend's we were able to get by with a part from Advance Auto made by Standard Motor Products. I'm as much of an OEM part guy as anyone, but I was pretty sure mine wasn't going to be in our stable too much longer, and my friend was just broke and cheap was his only option. As it turns out that part lasted for over two years, and was still working today when I drove it for the last time before I sold it.
