SOOOOO, I was replacing my front brakes and hoping to have the rotors turned at my local Nissan dealer. They tell me that if thy turn them to get the warp out, they will be out of spec. They tell me that it is normal Infiniti procedure to just replace the rotors.New rotors from Nissan are $110 per.The parts manager tells me he can get me drilled and slotted for around $237 per set.

Opinions??

I'm leaning toward the drilled and slotted as opposed to putting the OEM POS rotors back on.

I've had the wheels torqued to spec since I purchased the care NEW. Have never tracked it either. Just normal driving. Wonder if some SVT Cobra brakes would fit on my G!!! They were awesome! And I did push it from time to time...

How did you warp those rotors? Do you have a rear wheel drive G or an X model? The RWD has the big brakes. Part number 40206-EG000, same as the 06/07 M. I have only seen those warp on M45 models whose driver is a heavy braker. At 32k they should be resurfacable. One thing I do, is since I know my brakes last me 20k, at 10K I resurface the rotors and sand the pads down. And $110 sounds like the price for the 40206-AM800 rotors. The EG000 rotors would be like $130. unless in fact you have a G35x.

How did I warp the rotors????? Are you serious??Please re-read original post.

Also, I have a RWD.

Apparently, they are just sh**y from the factory!!! Maybe they were made in CHINA like my filters are now.

We live in a relatively flat area. No heavy braking needed. No heavy braking made.

And, I get discounts at Nissan, so that's why the 'low' price.I'll probably get them at Napa since I get even deeper discounts there.

Now, I'm thinking about getting the non drilled/slotted.I'm now thinking I'll be OK with the ceramics.

Replace the rotors with OEM rotors and get some project MU NS pads.

No way in hell I would pay Infiniti stearlership prices on anything either and they are probably lying about the fact they can't be turned within spec and they have never been turned before. They are out to make money, bottom line and will tell you anything in order to do that. Take the rotors to NAPA and see if they tell you the same story. I wouldn't run the slotted and drilled on a daily driver, they won't be as quiet and are overkill.

either of those two for the rotors.

for the project MU NS pads.

Replace the brakes yourself. Your time plus $250 for everything and you are set.

Thanks Guys!!

Now, that I've put the car back together with the original pads and rotors...and the pads still have lots of life left, I'm still leaning toward the Napa rotors at ($41 per - with my discount) and possibly Akebono ceramics.Thinking I'll wait til the end of the summer to do them. So, I'll do more research on the Project Mu's too. The thing is that this is the wife's sedan and lately she has been talking about a white G37 coupe to replace it. IF the economy turns around next year and IF I can get a low mileage 2008/2009, we MIGHT trade. Also, JR gets his license this July!!! YAY!!!! Which means we won't need a sedan as much.

Been told that slotted/drilled will cool better and will not warp, but can not turn them, but prob never will need to.I'm going with ceramics this time around and possibly Napas best rotors (I get discounts there). Hope the ceramics will keep the heat down so that they don't warp.
