I just purchased an 05' G35 and the front seats are full power and heated. The heater works and the back part of the seats lean forward and backward. But the seats will NOT move forward or back. Im new to these cars and don't know if it's a fuse or relay or straight up the motor. But it makes no noise at all or anything. Almost like the switch isn't connected. Where are the fuses and relays located. I read somewhere that if you push on the switch and tap on the motor if the motor is going out it will move while you hit it. I tried that and nothing happened. No sounds I tried touching the motor with my finger while I pushed the switch and couldn't feel any movement. So it's almost as if it's just flat not getting any power to it. Any input would be great. Thanks!

What would be the expected source of the problem if I have the same issue (only unable to move forward and backward), but I can hear the motor or "something" click underneath the seat?

Car wash moved my seats all the way forward, and now they won't go back. I'm 6'2" and can't fit in my car anymore :(

The G's seemed to have issues with stripped gears...either that or a switch problem but if you hear the motor then it's not the switch.

From another similar thread:

"go to the http://www.odometergears.com/infiniti.html website. There you'll see 3 pictures of the seat gears. They also have written instructions on how to access the gear. Use those instructions to remove your gear (there is a right and a left). Figure out which one needs to be replaced and order your gear and replace it."

Car wash had me take it to the CarX across the street, they declared the motor as being hot, and that they would need to replace it. They weren't even going to call the parts department at the dealership here in town until i pressed. Dealership said that the problem was "more common than they would like to admit" and that they would need to buy a full new track and mount system, $778.

the car wash guys eyes bugged out, and he's gotta kick up to his boss.

I haven't had the time to look at the gear system in the pdf you linked, so I don't know if that's possibly the real problem or not.

I can't believe they can't replace just the motor...

Final update: 1100 bucks later and I have an all new seat undercarriage. I checked that gear and it was intact. Repair shop verified it was the motor, and got the replacement from Infiniti.

Well, at least I can fit in it now
