05 Frontier XE 2.4L swap to 4.0L V6

Hey Everyone Im looking for good information and this looked like the right place. I own an 05 Frontier XE with the 2.5L engine with a 5spd manual Transmission and want to drop in a 4.0L V6. I know the V6 will fit but I do not know what else I need other than the engine. If anyone knows what parts i need this would be a great help. I have the time money and my father in law knows how to make it all work.

Yes, welcome to NICO. I can't say I have seen much documentation on your particular swap. The current generation Frontier is still new and doesn't seem to be as mod-friendly as previous Nissan trucks. That's changing everyday though as Frontiers come down in price. There is lots of engine swap information in general available all over NICO. Most swaps have a lot of things in common. It's best to have a donor car but if one isn't available you will need to gather not only the engine, computer and wiring harness; you may also need to procure a transmission in case the 2.5L transmission doesn't bolt to the 4.0L. Sensors, pins and terminals will also need to be collected. NICO has a very respectable collection of Factory Service Manuals at www.nicoclub.com/FSM
NICO also has a tuning forum which may help you with your ECM swap.

I will post pics as it happens. Im hoping that someone on here has already swapped an engine in the 05-09 model of frontiers and can tell me how they did it

i don't think they have... i haven't heard if it at least... seems most people that wanted the V6 just got the V6... and those that didn't care still ended up with the V6 except for a few unfortunate ones
