05 Armada Fan only blows full blast or off

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Also my auto liftgate only works 1 out of 20 times, I can pull the handle and it will open and usually have to close it manually.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your switches have gone south which will only blow the high or off settings. The resisitors inside may have shorted out. Do you still have some form of a warranty available for the dealer to replace them?

For the power hatch, it could be the switch in the dash, or the switch in the rear by the door. Does one work better than the other, or are they equally dysfunctional? I hatch seen both come up bad sometimes, or the motor inside the vehicle that moves the door up and down.

The fan problem is more than likely what Nissan calls the Variable Blower Control, aka VBC. The symptom you describe is typically due to this part failing. It is what controls the speed of the fan, allowing a resisted amount of voltage to reach the fan which controls how fast it spins. When it goes out, it loses it's internal resistance, which means the fan either gets full power or no power.

Could we replace the resistors? Where is it located? Do you know the part number? Dont think the warranty covers those type things anymore.

Both switches are equally disfunctional. And to make things more strange, it seems to work only when it is colder. I dont think it has ever worked when it was over 50 degrees outside (maybe just coincidence).

The VBC is a 3/36 item, as is the liftgate motor for the rear door, if that is the problem with it. I can't remember the part number for the VBC off the top of my head, because at work we enter the vin then type in VBC to find the part.

Now the fans do not blow at all. We are out of warranty by about 15K miles. I really need to fix this but do not have the $$ to take to the dealership right now and it is cold outside. Was hoping someone could help with location of VBC and part #
