I recently had my clutch and flywheel burn out at 39000 miles on an 05' Altima SE V-6. I looked to nissan to replace the thing under warranty..but of course they say this is normal wear and tear! Now don't get me wrong i drive the car hard sometimes, but 39000 miles???

So i just bought a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel off ebay for $399.99, not a bad deal i thought. Haven't gotten it in yet, but i am curious what the difference will be from stock? I bought a factory replacement clutch from Nissan, and am wondering if it is a bad idea to upgrade the flywheel on a factory clutch? Any thoughts?

Most nissan dealerships offer a 60K drivetrain warranty (I've been noticing alot of ****ty service from dealerships lately)......I'd personally go back and curbcheck a few mechanics until they look back into their warranty policy.....they did sign a deal with you. I have warranty horror stories of my own; get regional managers involved...who fire service managers....that usually solves any further problems you'll encounter.

good luck with the Fidanza if you decide not to kick *** and take names.

Personally I would have went for the exeddy clutch and flywheel package. with that light flywheel spinning that fast the stock clutch is going be under even more pressure than usual.

I had the same problem with my wife's 2003 Altima. I was surprised myself to have to change the clutch more often than changing brakes. I tried to escalate the issue with Nissan and it basically went to deaf ears.

I had Volvo's in the past and never had to change a clutch even at more than 100K miles. We put another 30K miles on the second clutch and it's already beginning to slip. At this point, I'm ready to say goodbye to Nissan and go back to the Volvo's. You may want to consider doing the same. I also have a 350Z that I bought at the same time. I'm ready to unload that one as well.

So i had it installed and now i am getting a nasty a** grinding coming from where the starter meets the flywheel. its only when i turn the key but it sounds like Sh*t!!! Anyone know if this could be due to a bad install, or if its common with aftermarket flywheels.?!?!?!
