Trying to get the salvage Q to start. Turns over, but it appears no ignition. Gas was empty, but i added 3 gallons and used s couple of sprays of starter fluid. It is certified starts from the auction company. When the air bags deployed did it shut off the ignition? Is there a way to bypass? I am actually now considering fixing the car, everything seems like a well cared for car. But not if it doesn't run.

Check to make sure the key's are still programmed. Nissan/Infiniti vehicles have issues of losing key programming if batteries are left unhooked for more than 24hrs.

Key is good. The Qs won't let the key turn in the column if it doesn't recognize the key. You will also get a red alarm lamp on the dash. It turns and no alarm lamp.
thanks for the help though

I drove to Charlotte Friday to talk to the dealer, air bag deployment disables the car from running. According to him, the car software has to be reset by the dealer. $170 and tow the car there, around 70 miles. Anyone have another option?

I assume the FSM doesn't mention anything about it? By '05 the "without Consult" options were pretty much slim and none anyhow.

I'd do some research on this though... kind of sounds like BS to me. I had a friend wreck an 05 Altima with AB deployment and it still started... different cars, but same manufacturer, and I'd think similar thinking behind the software.

Auto body shops deal with deployed airbags all the time - and they don't tow their vehicles to dealers to "reset the software"!

So, either your Infiniti dealer is lying to you about the airbag disabling engine start, or he's lying to you about there being no other way of "resetting the software".

Check a auto body shop? Great idea! Dumb i did not think of that. Going Monday check a few shops. Going back to CoPart as well, CoPart certified the car as starting. I was hoping a 02-06 owner would have seen this seem issue and posted, but will post the result once i figure it out. Thanks Skibane and 1990 ... :)
