New to the forum and to being a Z owner. What are some good upgrades to enhance the speed on my car. Not looking for anything ridculously expensive.

It depends a bit on your engine model.
For the 05's most still came with the single intake version but i believe some (the Anniv for sure but maybe the Track 6 speed?) with the Dual intake engine.

Which one do you have?

Fred.. :)

All the 2005's, even the 35th Anniversary and the Track model are stuck with a single intake. :(

The Z is pretty good out of the box, but it takes a good chunk of money to make them better (faster), but my big three for making the car better overall are always better tires, better brakes and improved suspension. What's your budget Benji?

Welcome to NICO! :badger

Nope, there's a ton of little differences between the RevUp version of the VQ from the 35th Anniversary & Track model (all '06 6MT Zs got the RevUp too and some of the G35 coupes, can't remember which ones though. The two big ones are the 500 rpm bump to the redline (hence RevUp) and the RevUp has variable timing on both the intake and the exhaust side.

Oh, and of course the higher potential for oil consumption. ;)

I'd agree with BusyBadger on modifications to start off with being better tires, brakes, and suspension.

Other than those things, a good CAI, exhaust system, and a tune should do you some good too.

(I still need to get mine to a Dyno some time)

$2K won't get you into supercharger or turbocharger terriotry, at least not reliably. If you can't wait and don't want to spend the money on my first suggestions you might consider the MREV manifold and a plenum spacer from Motordyne and an Osiris tune from UpRev.

unfortunately this platform is a very expensive one to mod 2k isnt gona get you much of anything. you can do the tiny mods already suggested or tires. suspension wise mayby new bushings since yours are undoubtedly aged and maybe sways. dont touch coils and springs until you can afford something decent like koni/truechoice/ohlins/kw/moton............ the other crap megan/bc/stance/ksport ect are crap and only made for dropping the car performance wise you will be better off with stock. brakes i wouldnt touch unless you are going to a large GT style track your not going to do any better then stock, you dont get better braking power from them unless you swap master cylinders(thats what actually increases braking power not a bbk) i have yet to boil fluid doing 20-150-20 four to six times in a row in a matter of 10 minutes and havnt boiled fluid at most get brembos if you dont already have it for better rotor selection other then that 99.99% of people who get a bbk just waste the cash or only care for looks.

if you want to go turbo/supercharger plan on a 10k budget to start you can save a little here and there but your not going to drop much unless your using crap parts like ebay stuff which someone did on my350z and had a ton of issues with the kit, the crap he has had to fix and the additional time invested it would have been cheaper to get a quality kit like boosted performance(google it or youtube i suggested sasha come here but never did) which will run you about 5k for the base kit(still needs fuel/ engine management/ clutch/ tires) which will put you around 10k and gona need for you to save up for a lil bit. also quality parts cut down on maintenance costs
