I have joined this site to get more info on an 05 sentra 1.8L that I bought from a guy who said the timing chain was worn out with 114,000 kms on it. I guess it can happen but this car, when you can get it to run, will run perfect, or did run. I used it for a full summer, with the hard to start mornings. It would take about 5 or 6 times starting the engine before it would acutally idle right and be able to drive it. Seemed like after it got warmed up it was fine. Put about 3000kms on it. however when fall rolled around, the issue got worse. cold damp mornings, it wouldn't start. if I kept the block heater plugged in, it would start better but still wouldn't run right. cam shaft and crank shaft sensors were replace before I got the car. I get the P0335 code and P0111. I am convinced it isn't the timing chain as I removed the cover when the engine was warm and the chain was nice and tight, and also the engine is whisper quiet when running. I am a backyard mechanic and a mechanical engineer so I can tell you that failed or worn mechanical components do not fix themselves. to me it seems more like a wiring issue that cures itself with heat, sort of like when you get bad plug wires. I have confirmed the power, continuity and ground of the camshaft sensor, the vvt solenoid, but haven't yet tested the wiring on the crank position sensor. I have looked for the spliced blue and white wire under the battery but didn't have much luck with finding it but all of the wiring looked fine(saw this in another post). I also read that a ground on the MAF might do it as well. haven't checked that one yet either. I have also read about the coils being bad but this is not a condition where the engine only fires on 3 of 4 cylinders. It completely cuts off all together. Would one bad coil contribute to all 4 not firing? If you have the same issues, please let me know your findings. I would love to solve this problem because the car is in pretty good shape and I only paid $300 for it.
