hi-

recently started to notice the front end seems to 'dig in' during hard stops, even getting some front tire slip.. Almost as if the rear brakes aren't grabbing?

I did change the rear pads a few weeks back, prolly have 2k miles on them by now, but this issue just started a couple days ago.

Fronts have slotted/drilled rotors, good pad remaining. ceramic pads all around (rear rotors stock). Fluid level good, pedal feels OK...*maybe* a bit soft, but I could be overly sensitive..

Haven't gone to the dealer yet..but want to get an idea. (e.g., could bad struts cause this, or do I have some kind of brake system problem?)

thanks!

How many miles are on the car? Yes, bad front struts could be causing this problem.

just rolled over 70k. ouch...all warranties are done, I guess.

I'm thinking if I take this in to the dealer, they'll blame the aftermarket rotors right off.

If you have time just bring it in and see what they say. One thing you can is really simple. Push on the front fenders or front of the hood and just see if the car bounces alot. It really should only bounce once maybe twice but if it keeps going then its more than likely the struts. Also listen for noises in the suspension.Cheers

auditech, thanks- the stuts seem to be fine. I now think the fronts are definitely grabbing for some reason (or the rears aren't holding)..will dig into it this weekend.

I confess that when I replaced the rears recently I did not resurface the rotors...could this cause them to not bind properly? I did clean them, and they seemed fine until this cropped up a week or two ago.

thanks again

17 years of Q ownership and seeing hundreds, thousands indicate that most shocks are severely done by 60k or 4 years. The slow progressive daily decline is difficult for owners to judge, just a vague sense that something is not right.
